Bachkit Project: Andre Hodgskin

Along the coast of New Zealand stretchsmall cottages with spacious terraces, which the locals called bachs (something like "bachelor's cottages"). Cozy and unprepossessing, intended for weekends and holidays, somewhat similar to our dachas, they prompted the architect Andre Hodgskin to a good commercial idea: to create a comfortable ready-made house especially for the coast. The house is fast and cheapThe house is fast and cheapLand by the sea is not cheap, so whythe more compact the structure, the better. In order not to sacrifice either living space or the opportunity to sit outdoors, Andre came up with one trick: thanks to sliding glass walls, the house easily turns into a spacious terrace open to the sea breeze. The windows are duplicated with aluminum partitions, also mobile. With their help, the home can be made as impregnable as Fort Knox, which is important, because the cottage is not intended for permanent residence, and therefore often stands empty. The house, ironically named bachkit (Bachelor's Kit), is already for sale in New Zealand and costs from $120 thousand. www.bachkit.com
