Collection of furnitureFurniture collection Design rules the world. At i Saloni, this thought beats in your head at 60 beats per minute. There is no other explanation for the salon being swollen to the brim. Just imagine: 230,000 square meters filled, no, crammed with furniture and lighting. Add to that the 360 "points" of the non-exhibition program scattered throughout the city. Divide this by 7 days. Now imagine what is left of your legs and say: "I love design! I really love design!" It is impossible to survive the exhibition without this thought. Milan is overcrowded. Design has occupied not only the outskirts of the city (the exhibition is located in the Rho-Pero Park area), but has also taken over the city center. It is in every gateway, in every entrance, in every store. If something is open after nine in the evening, it is certainly a furniture showroom. When you meet Russian architects here, you begin to feel the power of the "fourth estate". They all complain that, unlike journalists, they are not given CDs with the new collection. Experienced architects print business cards for a fictitious magazine especially for the Milan salon. So far, the trick is working. The most luxurious party took place in the gardenPalazzo Versace for the presentation of the Jet Seat, a chair designed to resemble an airplane seat. The soundtrack for the event was the deafening sound of a helicopter propeller (still buzzing in my head). Some places were worth visiting for more than just the furniture. For example, the Teatro Armani - a masterpiece built by the guru of concrete architecture Tadeo Ando. The Armani Casa For him/for her collection was presented here. According to Armani, gender differences are limited to color. The rooms for her are decorated in champagne, platinum and pearl tones. In his domain, gray satin and black nickel reign. A must-see item on the program is the Zona Tortona - a place where young designers traditionally base themselves and where masters flock in search of fresh ideas. It is impossible to get through at one o'clock in the morning. And yet, not long ago, visitors to the salon were looking for the "zone" with a magnifying glass, wandering through dark alleys. Thanks to i Saloni, Tortona has become a fashionable and expensive place: bohemians began to settle here, and real estate prices have tripled. However, during the exhibition, you should not live here, but pitch a tent in the Rho-Pero park, so as not to waste time on the road. This is the only way to see all 24 pavilions. It is amazing how in this sea of design everyone manages to get their bearings and find something of their own. Our people, of course, are attracted to the classics. In the pavilions with abundant carving and gilding, everyone speaks Russian or Little Russian. The fact that Russia is experiencing an economic boom, and not just a boom, but a BOOM-BOOM!!!!!! is clear to everyone. If someone has not yet entered our market, they strive to get there at any cost: "Are you from Moscow?!! I won't let you go so easily. We must get to know each other better, I mean, you and our collection." As a symbol of the Italians' love for Russia, a real birch grove grew in the recreation area of the classic pavilion. By the way, using elements of nature in the design of stands is also a trend. Live plants in tubs or in the form of vertical gardening of walls, landscape photo panels, video projections, etc. were found at every step. Everything was like in Soviet clinics, only beautiful.«Giant!» — this word can be safely attributed not only to the salon, but also to many objects. Gigantism is a trend. A gigantic floor lamp (completely unsuitable for a home, except for a giant's castle) was grown by the outrageous Dutchman Marcel Wanders. Other masters of high design - Job Smit and Ninke Tinagel (Studio Job) - turned an ordinary cheese tin lid into a giant bell made of Bisazza mosaic. For their personal collection, Studio Job came up with works of art for ceremonial rooms and a chapel. A giant pyramid of pots and a coffee maker, cast in gilded bronze, towered on the walls like statues of saints, encouraging the public to revere them like the golden calf. According to Ninke and Job, now is the time of deification of things. It is not without reason that they consider the main trend of the coming autumn to be an abundance of gold in combination with purple (this combination is typical for Catholic ceremonies). In general, all the stands have a lot of black, white, purple, as well as silver and gold. The latter is especially abundant. The most illustrative example is Tom Dixon. This English designer spoke about his "golden" collection, flashing a gold fixa in his mouth. A surprisingly integral image! The most fashionable type of wood, oddly enough, is walnut. This year it is not only in the classic pavilions (where there was always a lot of it), but also in modern ones. The upholstery is dominated by natural materials: from untreated linen to leather. The structure is mesh, holes and slits. The shape is organic and faceted. We will present a full list of trends in the following issues of 2014; as new collections arrive in Moscow showrooms. The new products of the Milan Furniture Salon can be seen at the i Saloni World Wide exhibition, which will be held in Moscow's Crocus Expo-2 from October 10 to 13.Aftertaste: What You Want to Do After Visiting i Saloni
