I didn't like any of the ten options. Can you draw something else?
There is nothing worse for a designer than the wording"offer me something else." After all, each person has their own taste, and, accordingly, it is difficult to guess what they mean by this "something." Therefore, at the very beginning, at the discussion stage, it is necessary to clearly voice your wishes, and even better - send the designer examples of what you like. In this case, you will speed up the process of creating your own project and immediately exclude moments that you do not understand or do not like.
Can you give your builders a plan for the time being, and will we agree on the furniture arrangement with you later?
Every professional knows that all drawings,including the electrical plan, are implemented by the builders only after final approval with the customer. Otherwise, it may turn out that all the sockets and switches are behind the sofa (or other furniture), and the lamp is not hung where you would like it to be.
I like ethnic style, and my husband is modern. Can you do something in between?
If two (or more) problems occur on an objectcustomer, this inevitably leads to quarrels and misunderstandings. Professionals say that one person should be responsible for the project, so you shouldn't arrange family squabbles with your husband in front of the designer, giving him the role of an arbitrator or psychologist. It is necessary to agree in advance on the style in which you plan to decorate your apartment, and determine whose word will be decisive when communicating with a specialist.
We thought we needed this sofa. But can we stay within a limited budget?
Of course, it happens that in the process of workyou find a more interesting version of a lamp/furniture/accessories, but the designer should not monitor all the stores to find the model you like for a smaller budget. After all, before starting work, you probably discussed all the details and determined how much you are ready to spend on renovating your apartment. Therefore, if your imagination tells you that this purple chair will look amazing in this interior, then either discuss additional expenses or study the offers of brands to find “the same, but with mother-of-pearl buttons.”
Are you sure that it will be comfortable to use?
A designer is not a representative of a cleaning servicecompany or service department. He only creates an individual project for you, taking into account your tastes and rhythm of life. Of course, he can tell you that if you have pets, then in no case should you make a dark glossy floor. Of course, you can ignore his opinion and demand, for example, a black floor in the kitchen, in which the furniture will be picturesquely reflected. In addition, you will have to use various gadgets and household appliances, so find out from the specialists in advance whether it will be convenient to handle certain items. Or they are good only as an exhibition sample, and in everyday life it is better to choose something simpler.
My friends said that these colors are incompatible. And in general, relatives think that it will be too motley. Maybe remake?
The designer has already presented his vision to you.project, based on your taste preferences. If you initially approved the sketches, and then decided that the opinion of a professional is not authoritative for you and it is better to listen to your relatives, then do not ask what the designer thinks about the advice of your mother or friend. In this case, the most reasonable thing would be to either trust the specialist, or refuse his services and communicate with the builders yourself.
