  • Photo 1 Garden Dayrmyuda Gavin received the secondthe importance of the award at the Chelsea show - gilded silver. This medal is lower than gold, but higher than silver. Usually, Chelsea judges prefer more elaborate jobs. However, in this case, even the most conservative of them were overwhelmed by the simplicity and affordability of the solution.
  • Photo 2 Chairs are suspended from the ceiling ceilingScandinavian designer Eero Aarnio - beautiful, but, alas, very expensive. Another reason to borrow is not an object, but an idea. Expensive seats can be replaced with ordinary bench-swings. By the way, and people fit on them more.
  • Photo 3, 4 The pond was created artificially. For its constant replenishment, a special system is provided that collects rainwater from the roof and drains it into the pond. Great idea in addition to the device of storm sewers and drainage systems!

This studio house with garden project was shownlandscape designer Diarmuid Gavin at the Chelsea Show in England. He is one of the most famous landscape designers in the United Kingdom. Perhaps thanks to the TV show about gardens, of which he is the author and presenter. The large audience of this TV show, as well as visitors to the Chelsea Show, are primarily attracted by the accessibility and ease of implementation of projects. Gardens that are easy to reproduce with minimal resources are consistently popular. In this case, the designer did not deviate from his principles either: the materials from which the house is built (metal structures, wood and glass) can be found everywhere, as well as the plants for the garden - only widespread varieties were chosen. When creating the project, the designer focused on the needs of an elderly married couple. The spouses continue to lead an active lifestyle, but prefer a quiet country environment to the noise of a big city. The plot is small - it is difficult to find something larger near a metropolis. But there was enough space for the building and the garden. The couple loves nature very much, so instead of walls in their house there are windows, from which a picturesque view of the pond, lawn, trees opens up in all directions. By the way, the designer placed the pond so close to the house not only for the sake of beauty - it reflects sunlight, which means it provides additional lighting. The cross-shaped form of the building made it possible to divide it into two zones - male and female. Of course, they are interconnected, but at the same time they exist separately, so that each inhabitant of the house has their own personal space. Since the owners are artists, there is an art studio inside the glass volume. Or rather, two studios - husband's and wife's. From the house you can go to the veranda with two transparent chairs suspended from the ceiling. This is a recreation area where the couple will spend time after work. Romantic paths connect the veranda with the garden. Moreover, the colored tiles are laid out in such a way as to create a huge floral pattern. And in the middle of each "flower" there is a trimmed bush - a simple and effective solution. Dairmude Gavin is one of the supporters of the opinion that “the garden exists for people, not people for the garden”: the plants he planted are pristinely beautiful and do not require special care.

In a collection of ideas

The garden's color scheme is based on shades of green.with small but bright splashes of silver, purple, blue, white, pink and orange. Taking the same principle as a basis, but excluding heat-loving plants, a similar garden can be created here. By the way, pay attention to the fact that the English are now actively planting the most ordinary grass in their gardens. And not only and not even so much in the form of lawns that have become so popular lately. In combination with other plants, including those traditionally considered luxurious, it looks very unusual. Why don't we adopt this curious experience? One of the most successful ideas of the designer is his sites and paths. He laid them out with multi-colored tiles so that flowers were obtained. In the center of each "daisy" a bush is planted and trimmed to create a semblance of a flower head. These are the only formed volumes against the background of naturally growing lush greenery. But since the trimmed balls are integrated into the composition of the paths and surrounded by garden furniture, they look like decorative elements and blend well with the neighboring objects.

  • Photo 1.2 There are also male and female zones in the garden. Landscape designer outlined them with garden furniture. In the female part, he placed vintage metal chairs in the form of flowers, and in the men's section next door - simple wooden chaise lounges, modernist in shape. The women's zone adjoins the pond. This part of the garden was designed as a place for evening relaxation.
  • Photo 3.4 Artificially create the natural beauty of nature - aerobatics. This can be trusted to a specialist who will select plants.
  • Photo 5 Ornamental onions can be found in English gardens no less than grass. By the way, it also grows here, in gardens and garden beds. Differs in beauty and besides is still edible.
  • Photo 6,7 Where we plant fruit trees andThujas, which do not tolerate our climate well, the English are content with birches and maples. But the garden does not look wild at all: the trees grow among ornamental grasses and flowers.
  • Photo 8 Specially selected ornamental plants resemble meadow grasses.
  • Photo 9 The presence of a garden around the house is not a reasonabandon plants in the interior. In the summer house you can pick up flowers in pots from a city apartment. Here, under the protection of glass walls, they will feel great.
