Animal Protection DayPhoto:ThinkstockWhile , people united by a completely different, but no less noble idea, were running through the center of London. The mummers' event was organized by a charity that defends the right of gorillas to live in their historical territories in Africa. The fact is that people, continuing to develop African territories, are already closely approaching the areas of the original habitat of these higher primates, which threatens the very existence of great apes in the wild. The habitats of gorillas are now among the most densely populated regions of Africa. The so-called "Great Gorilla Run" is being held for the eighth time. The first such carnival run took place in 2003. Traditionally, people dress up in gorilla costumes of several species at once: eastern and western lowland, mountain and Cross River gorillas. Up to a thousand people of different ages take part in the event every year. In some ways, it has become one of London's attractions, as it is a spectacular spectacle and invariably elicits enthusiastic reviews from locals and tourists. While the British are trying to defend the rights of African gorillas, the French are concerned about the situation of Japanese dolphins.
