DIY Bead NecklaceDIY Beaded NecklaceYou will need:

  • approx. 15 g dark grey brocade beads №10;
  • elongated bead in the color "wet asphalt"
  • lock for beads;
  • thin, strong threads (nylon or lavsan threads 33K or 33L are suitable);
  • beading needles - 12 or 13.

Technique of performance: lowering.Work description: The tape width depends on the number of beads in the initial set. It will be slightly narrower than the length of the initial chain. It is better to place the beads in the middle of the thread, leaving the second end long enough. In this case, at the end of the weaving of the first half of the ribbon, you need to rotate the work and continue weaving on the other side.

  • 1st and 2nd rows: dial 12 beads on the needle and pass upwards to the 9th bead (sk.19.1). String 1 bead and, having passed the 8th, insert the needle into the 7th bead. Thus rise to the end of the 1st row, passing through in a checkerboard pattern (skipping one by one). The 2nd row is finished when the needle comes out of the 1st bead.
  • 3rd row: on the needle dial 2 beads (17 and 18) and enter from the top to the bottom in the 16th. Lower the row, not reaching the end of the previous row on one protruding bead.
  • 4th row: type 2 beads on the needle and continue to lower in the same way as you nibbled the 2nd row.
  • 5th row:the needle came out of the top bead of the previous row. Pick up 3 beads (27, 28, 29) and pass into the 1st of the three picked up. This is called "lifting AB", then the row is lowered in the same way as the 3rd. All rows going from top to bottom are lowered as the 3rd, and rows going from bottom to top - as the 4th. The length of one half of the ribbon in this product is approximately 19.5 cm, the ribbon is made of 48 "lifting AB".

When one half of the tape is ready,Turn the product and continue weaving in the same way as you weaved the first half of the ribbon. If you need to replace the thread, you should leave the end of the old thread at least 10-15 cm long. With the new thread, go through 1.5-2 cm of the product, following the weaving pattern and making fixing knots through several beads. The new thread should come out of the same bead as the old one. Weave 1.5-2 cm of the product with the new thread. Go along the newly woven section of the product with the old thread, also making fixing knots. Cut the end of the thread "AB" at the root. You can leave a tip 2-3 mm long and carefully melt it with a lit match, but in products made with mosaic weaving, it is better not to do this. If the beads are light-colored or coated, it is also better not to melt the thread, since yellow marks may remain on light beads, and the coated layer of paint may be damaged. When the ribbon is woven, sew a clasp to its ends and decorate the middle with a bead pendant. It is more convenient to sew a bead with a thread with 2 needles at the ends. The method of attaching a bead is shown in diagram 19.2. String 3 beads onto the middle of the thread, pass both needles through the hole of the bead, string 2 more beads on them and attach the bead to the ribbon. Hide the remaining ends of the threads.
