Letters on a gray wall

Hallway decorHallway decorPhoto 1,2. Hallway before and after. This time the decorators were lucky. The hallway they had to decorate turned out to be spacious (3 - 4 m) and of a regular rectangular shape. And the fact that there are many doors is not a problem. That's what it is a hallway for. When choosing a style for the future project, the decorators decided to settle on something like "Provence", only without the rich southern colors. The space was filled spontaneously. The owner bought the wardrobe herself. She saw it and could not part with it. The homespun carpet was given to her by a friend. The wooden bench and wicker lampshade were bought by the decorators at OBI. The antique mirror migrated to the hallway from the bedroom. To this they added family photos in simple frames and a mannequin hanger. It turned out to be homey, cozy and warm.Photo 1.The fashion for "handwritten" decor seems to have firmly established itself in interior design. The inscriptions are made with white wax crayons, and a double layer of matte varnish is applied on top. Photo 2, 3. The choice of color for the walls and the idea of making inscriptions are interconnected. White chalk on a gray surface evokes associations with a blackboard. Photo 4. A folding tray table was used as a stand for an antique mirror inherited from my grandmother. A floor lamp illuminates the hallway and adds extra coziness.Photo 1,2,3.On the wall above the bench there is a home photo gallery. The pictures from the owner's album were selected according to the principle of "different periods of life": parents, school, college, family. The photos were scanned, after which black and white prints were made from the color images. The frames for them were the simplest ones, made of wood. The result was an imitation of old photos. The original move was the image of the frames on the wall. It was done with wax crayons and varnished.Photo 1,2,3.An important element of the hallway is the bench. The decorators bought a simple garden bench made of unpainted wood from OBI and transformed it. First, the entire surface was covered with red acrylic paint. After the paint dried, they began drawing in the details. A layer of gold acrylic paint is applied to the ends of the wooden elements of the back. After it dries, the end is covered with black paint. The second layer dries slightly, but not completely. At this point, it is wiped in places with a cotton cloth so that gray paint appears from underneath. The effect of a "worn" surface is obtained. At the final stage, the bench is treated with acrylic varnish.

Red east

Photo 1,2. Hallway before and after. In fact, this hallway looked pretty good before the renovation - white and clean. But the owner of the apartment, a decorator by profession, wanted something unusual, bright and cheerful. What could be brighter than red and more unusual than Chinese dragons? To begin with, it was decided to turn the Scandinavian shelving unit into a Chinese one. To do this, it was painted red, and the doors were decorated using decoupage. Images of dragons were chosen for the appliques. The walls of the hallway were made brown. A multi-colored Turkish carpet was laid on the floor. A collection of engravings bought during trips to Europe was hung on the wall around the mirror. It turned out just as the owner had intended, and the household really liked it.Photo 1.Before painting, the rack was not moved away from the wall, but simply covered with a film, which was glued with tape. Red acrylic paint was applied to the rack in two layers. Photo 2. The walls of the hallway were smooth and did not require preparatory work. Brown paint was applied in two layers, having protected the junction of the wall and ceiling with tape beforehand. Photo 3. Beautiful graphic sheets inserted into the passe-partout look impressive against the chocolate-brown background of the wall. The combination of brown with red looks noble, but requires an accurate selection of colors by tonality. Photo 4. A large rack "lived" in this hallway for a long time. Books and all sorts of things were stored in it. The things are still in place, only the shelving has become completely different.Photo 1,2.In this case, thin napkins were used for the applique. The picture can be cut out, but it is preferable to carefully tear it off along the edge with your hands. Not only napkins are suitable for decoupage, but also any other pictures printed on thin paper. Photo 3, 4. The place on the shelf door where the applique should be located is marked with a pencil and coated with a thin layer of universal glue. Then carefully apply the picture and immediately smooth it out with a rag so that folds and wrinkles do not appear.Photos 1-4.The end parts of the shelves and doors are covered with gold acrylic paint. And, without letting it dry completely, they are wiped with a cloth so that the color of the main background appears. Finally, a water-soluble varnish is applied to the rack in two layers.
