DIY Wall DecorationsOlga is a member of the International Uniondesigners, head of her own studio and, as they say, an insider in the fashion world. She is equally interested in creating clothing collections and interiors. The idea for decorating a wall, proposed and implemented by Olga, is simple but effective. It is a contrasting graphic design on a light background. The author called her composition "Martian Field". Strange, mysterious "flowers" grow in this field.
Maxim Shishigin
In 1990, Maxim graduated from the facultyApplied Arts at the Textile Academy in Moscow. And in 1998 he began working on interiors. Currently, he teaches art history at the "Details" school-studio. He is engaged in artistic painting of walls and furniture. He was inspired to create the drawing by Chinese painting on silk, namely the "Forbidden City" palace complex of the Chinese emperors.
Olga Proskurina
Olga is a graduate of the school-studio«Details». She travels and reads a lot, and new experiences help in her work. She loves to «play» with materials, revealing the beauty of different surfaces. In her opinion, men are deprived of the attention of decorators. Most interiors are essentially oriented towards women. Therefore, Olga decided to restore justice by creating a «male» wall.
Valeria Zakornichnaya
Another graduate of the studio school«Details». Valeria used to be into fashion design, now she successfully works as a decorator, making her clients' dreams come true. In style, she prefers «simple sophistication», «without refined sugar and excesses». Her wall is a hymn to the sweet life. And glamour has nothing to do with it. It's just that the main material used to create the pattern was sugar. A very original move!
Martian expanses
The owner of the apartment turned out to be a big fanshocking. That is why the decorator took the risk of offering her a very unusual style. Among themselves, designers call it "art" as something created by the hand of an artist. In fact, almost any interior painting on all possible surfaces can be defined under this definition. In this case, an ordinary living room wall was transformed by the master into a Martian field with miracle flowers. For her project, the decorator chose two colors: gray-lilac for the walls and dark cherry for the pattern, ceiling and textiles. A large amount of cherry sets the tone for the color play and makes the space truly "Martian". It was very important to maintain the correct proportions in the painting. Some shocking design allowed to combine objects of different styles in the room. Even the antique boulette is quite in place here. Author of the project - decorator Olga BrovkinaPhoto 1.This space perfectly accommodates objects of different styles and "Martian" plants on the wall. Photo 2. Before starting to paint, preparatory work is carried out. First, the wall is leveled using "Handycoat" putty (Terraco, Sweden). Acrylic paint is applied to the flat surface with a roller. The second layer of paint is applied after the first one has dried. Photo 3, 4. An experienced designer draws directly with a marker. Those who are not so confident in their abilities should start with a simple pencil. First of all, carefully, with small strokes, apply the drawing, setting the proportions and height. Then thinly draw the silhouette. And only after that do they start working with a marker.Photo 1.At this stage, you will need a thick «gold» marker. Not a special one, just a regular one. The lines should be thick and clear – so that after painting the silhouettes of the «flowers», they will slightly peek out from under the paint. Before you start working with paint, you need to cover the floor and baseboard with film or paper, securing it with tape. Photo 2-4. Acrylic paint is applied along the marker contour with a brush. This work requires utmost attention and accuracy. When applying paint, try to make sure that the thin lines from the marker remain visible. Here you will need a thin and wide brush, preferably made from the ear hair of a kolinsky or squirrel.
Chinese Wall
The idea to paint the wall came to the decorator's mind, when he found out that the owner of the apartment was a big fan of oriental style, or more precisely, Chinese. They took as a basis an illustration from a book - Chinese painting on silk. The ancient scroll depicted the so-called "Forbidden City" - a palace complex that served as a residence for 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Mere mortals were forbidden to enter here. The owner immediately agreed to this idea. First, they prepared the wall for painting. White acrylic primer was applied to the concrete with the help of. The result was a "cracked" surface. The drawing from the book was transferred to the wall by cells. This method allows you to enlarge the image while maintaining all proportions. When the work on the wall was finished, the designer added lanterns and a carpet brought from Istanbul to the interior. The author of the project is decorator Maxim Shishigin.Photo 1.2. After the soil dries, an acrylic paint is applied to the wall in the color of the main background. Until the layer had dried, the surface is wiped with a dry cotton cloth. Photo 3,4. To increase the mural to the scale of the wall, you must first draw a grid of squares on top of the illustration in the book. Then this grid is transferred in an increased size to the wall.Photo 1.2. On the basis of an enlarged pattern, for convenience, it is possible to make templates of cardboard for those elements of the ensemble that are repeated in the composition. Photo 3,4. It is better to choose paints of the necessary colors in advance in order not to get out of the necessary color range.Photo 1. Without waiting for complete drying, they wipe over some painted areas with a damp cotton swab, so that the texture of the wall appears. So achieve the feeling of tarnished from time to time colors on an old fresco. Photos 2,3. Next, draw the details. After drying out the contours, the painting is rubbed with a textile swab moistened with liquid diluted paint. This process is called patina. The paint should be a transparent layer. Instead, you can use tinted water-soluble varnish.
Wall of wisdom
This wall can easily be called an art object. The author of the project defined her composition as "masculine". But although the wall looks somewhat brutal, its masculinity is quite conditional. After all, there are many women who love traveling, expensive drinks and large comfortable chairs. And everyone appreciates wise sayings, regardless of gender. Nevertheless, the room was decorated based on the owner's tastes. Therefore, the decorator suggested using a metal-covered chest as a table. It is especially convenient that you can put hot things on it. Pay attention to the shape and the black color of the baseboard - it contrasts with the wall, but is as close to the furniture as possible. Galvanized sheets are designed in the same color scheme as the finishing tiles imitating brick. Before starting work, you need to decide on the width of the tile cladding and the size of the galvanized sheets. In our version, the width of the brickwork is 1 m, the size of the sheets is 1 m. The author of the project is decorator Olga ProskurinaPhoto 1.2. The facing brick is selected by color, observing the gradation from light terracotta to brown. So laying will look more natural and not monotone. The tiles are fixed on Sopro glue (France), making sure that there are no bricks of the same color next to them. Photo 3,4. The first row should consist of solid tiles. Therefore, it is important to relate the size and number of elements in the first row to the width of the masonry strip. The remaining rows are customized to fit the size of the strip with cut tiles.Photo 1.2. The galvanized sheet is painted from a barrel in claret-brown color. In this case, used car paint. Spray it better on the street or in a room that is well ventilated. Photo 3,4. Small holes are drilled in all four corners of the sheet. Then it is attached to the wall. Holes closed with metal caps.Photo 1.2. With a screwdriver (or other sharp and durable object) on the sheets they write any favorite quotes or aphorisms. The language in which the inscriptions will be made does not matter.
Sugar ornament
Surprisingly, even the most common sugar will do.for decorating walls. The pattern on this wall is made of it. The technique is quite simple, and does not require large material costs. In addition to sugar, you will need a small amount of acrylic paint, masking tape, a can of gold-colored car paint, a roller, a spatula, and varnish. In addition, you will need to make a patterned stencil. An additional interesting game: the decorative ornament on the pillow repeats the rapport of the painting on the wall. The pattern is created on the fabric using the same stencil and gold-colored textile paint mixed with a special thickener. The author of the project is decorator Valeria Zakernichnaya.Photos 1-4.Sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar on a table covered with paper. Hold the can at a distance of 20-30 cm from the surface and spray gold paint. Stir the sugar with a spatula to ensure it is evenly colored. Repeat the procedure several times until a homogeneous mass is obtained.Photos 1-4. On the wall with a ruler make markup. The width of the strip is calculated based on the size of the rapport. To ensure that the borders are even, paint masking tape is applied to the edges of the mural, after which an acrylic paint is applied with a roller. When the paint is dry, the stencil is fixed on the surface of the wall.Photos 1-3.Using a thin brush, the pattern on the stencil is coated with transparent universal glue and immediately filled with the prepared "gold" mass. After the mass dries, the edges of the stencil are moistened with water, which helps to remove it. The ornament is fixed with two layers of varnish.
