Prince William's brother is a classic exampletumbler field. After graduation, he traveled and worked for a year in Australia, Africa and Argentina. During his love affair with Chelsea Davey, he flew regularly from England to South Africa. He also served in the army, living in a regular barracks. Nevertheless, he loves his personal space and tries to make it special.

Apartments 8 and 9 at Kensington Palace

His first home was his parents' quarters inpalace, where he spent 13 years. The palace was built in 1605 and, unlike Buckingham Palace, is not a single building but a complex. The apartments resemble an elegant townhouse, with the decor chosen by his mother, Princess Diana. Harry’s territory was the nursery, which occupied the entire top floor of the three-storey house. It included rooms for William and Harry, their nannies and security officers, as well as bathrooms, playrooms and a kitchen. Highgro House

An outstanding stone building in pastel coloursSituated in the tiny village of Doughton, Gloucestershire, Highgrove was built in 1796. It has been Harry’s home since birth, and he still visits his father there. Highgrove has four reception rooms, nine bedrooms, six bathrooms and an entire wing dedicated to the nursery. It is the quintessential country retreat, much less formal than Kensington Palace, with plush armchairs and sofas, book-lined shelves and a riot of plants. Interior designer Robert Kim was responsible for the renovation after Charles and Diana separated. The gardens have always been Charles’s passion and his favourite project. They range from wildflower meadows, an English kitchen garden full of fruit and vegetables, lush flowerbeds and a secret nook made entirely from tree roots. Eton

Harry attended Eton from 1998 to 2003.A glimpse into his room at the time would have shown that he was growing into a very intriguing young man. A passionate patriot, he hung the national flag with the cross of St George on his wall, but his insatiable desire to travel meant that the flag hung surrounded by artefacts from around the world. And on the opposite wall he decorated photographs of girls from the covers of fashion magazines. There were no antiques – simple furniture and things that you would find in any English student dorm. Harry also hung portraits of his mother and friends, as well as the famous black and white poster of workers eating lunch in the rafters during the construction of Rockefeller Plaza.Photo: Getty Images

Saint James Palace

After his separation from Diana, Charles moved tonearby St James’s Palace, so when William and Harry were away from the boarding house for the weekend and not staying with Diana, they stayed at their father’s new home, York House. After the Queen Mother’s death in 2002, Harry moved into her former estate, Clarence House, also within St James’s Palace. Although Harry lived in various army barracks during this time, the four-storey building with a garden room and a morning room remained his official residence. It is a light, airy house with marble fireplaces, remodelled by Harry’s favourite designer, Robert Kim, in a classic, formal style. The walls are covered with paintings, and every surface is filled with priceless antiques, table lamps and framed photographs. The only sign of economy is the use of bronze rather than gold leaf in the decor.Photo: Getty Images

Camp Bastion, Afghanistan

Although Harry only lived here from September 2012 toJanuary 2013, many say he felt more at home in the Spartan conditions than in the palaces and castles. A large tent with a linoleum floor was filled with makeshift furniture. Empty ammunition boxes served as tables, and four comrades played video games on a rickety sofa, using shell casings as ashtrays. They slept on narrow beds in sleeping bags without sheets. Harry had brought a rug from home and also added an Afghan rug that had been given to him as decoration.Photo: Getty Images

Nottingham Cottage, Kensington Palace

Harry moved from Clarence House back toKensington Palace in 2012, around the time William and Kate moved into Nottingham Cottage to oversee the renovation of Apartment 1A. Harry moved into the one-bedroom apartment next door, where he lived for a year before William and Kate left and he became sole owner of Nottingham Cottage, where he has lived for four years. Meghan Markle stays there when she visits, and it is where they will live after their wedding.Photo: Getty Images
