Mulled Wine and Blue Hawaii
Delicious Alcoholic Cocktails Photo: ShutterstockBlue Hawaii Cocktail Photo:ShutterstockMulled wineIt is believed that the ancient Romans were the first to add spices to wine, and Europeans began drinking it hot in the Middle Ages. Traditionally, mulled wine is made from dry red wine, which does not necessarily have to be expensive. Quite the contrary, it is wiser to use young, unpretentious wine for this drink: all possible flaws in its taste will be hidden by the bright aromas of spices and fruits. On the occasion of Valentine's Day, Woman's Day offers to make an unusual mulled wine. The main roles in it are played not even by spices, but by berries – raspberries and blueberries. Ingredients (for 2 servings): Red dry wine - 400 ml, blueberries - 100 g, raspberries - 100 g, orange - a quarter, with the skin, honey - 1 tsp, cinnamon - 1 stick, cloves - 6 pcs., zest of half a lemon. Method of preparation: Grind blueberries and raspberries in a blender. If you use frozen berries, defrost them first and drain excess liquid. Place the berry puree in a ceramic or glass saucepan, add orange and lemon zest and mash everything well with a pestle or spoon. Add the remaining ingredients and heat the wine over low heat, without bringing to a boil. Remove from heat, strain and serve immediately in tall, thick-walled glasses. Blue Hawaii Invented in the 1950s by a bartender at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, this delicate tropical cocktail can turn even a frosty February evening into an exotic date in sunny Hawaii. To finally be transported to the atmosphere of eternal summer, watch the film of the same name starring Elvis Presley. Ingredients (for 2 servings): Malibu liqueur - 40 ml, spiced gold or white rum - 100 ml, Blue Curacao liqueur - 60 ml, pineapple juice - 160 ml, ice - 8 cubes. Method of preparation: Mix all ingredients with a European shaker. Pour the cocktail into glasses and garnish with a physalis berry or a red cocktail cherry.
