Well-groomed garden, garden or homestead -the cherished goal of every gardener. The constant striving for order, beauty and harmony lies in the subconscious of man. And his achievement is a feeling of satisfaction and joy. But the concept of "well-groomed site" implies not only the order on it. In addition, this is the health of all its components - soil, plants, ponds in the garden. Here we will talk about mulching - one of the ways to improve soil and plants. There is nothing new under the sun. Mulching is a natural method for maintaining the water balance in the soil and smoothing out the sharp temperature changes in it. This method is "peeped" by nature itself. In addition, the correct mulching of the soil is a reliable protection of your site from weeds.
A modern way to care for the land
Simply put, mulching is a shelteropen ground with various suitable materials. They can vary widely among themselves. Mulch spread around cultivated plants, pre-irrigation, weeding and fertilization. The materials used for mulching are well known to many gardeners and gardeners. For this purpose, you can use a dark film, sawdust, peat. Recently, mulch from the tree bark of coniferous trees has been on sale. This material is not only eco-friendly, but also beautiful, which is an important quality. Mulch from larch or pine bark is a ready-for-use substance. With it, you can mulch your site. It should simply be divided into beds, flower beds or flower beds. This material you can use for decorative purposes, for example, for the design of tracks or grounds for children and for recreation. Until 2000 in Russia mulch was not officially used anywhere. Ogorodniki and gardeners became interested in the novelty, and landscape designers actively adopted the experience of applying mulch in Holland, Finland, the United States and other countries. There mulching of the soil has been used for a long time and very successfully. Foreign trips, landscape exhibitions and the Internet have done their job - advanced domestic specialists began to work quietly with the new technology of protecting the land. But the majority of gardeners and gardeners still do not understand what it is. This is due to a lack of understandable and detailed information. Another difficulty is that mulch means completely different materials. And for some gardeners such a variety does not fit into the head, because it does not correlate with a certain commodity.
The whole truth about the mulch
Despite the fact that mulching with usUsed not so long ago, it has already acquired a wide variety of myths. Starting from the exaggerations about the record tomatoes, weighing a kilo, to the horror stories about the ruined site, on which nothing grows any more. Neither one, nor the other extreme have no ground. The true cause of problems are mistakes made when working on the ground. This is the wrong choice or incorrect dosing of fertilizers, planting plants that are not suitable for this soil or for the local climate, improper care for them, etc. By itself, mulching magically does not correct all previously committed errors. It does not replace and does not cancel work on the site, but much easier to care for planting.
Summer time management
Have you ever paid attention to the fact that indo not completely open areas of the soil exist? The earth constantly gives life to a multitude of plants, which, when they die, create a natural layer of mulch. At our dacha we plant only those plants that we want to see there. But, unfortunately, not only they grow, but also weeds. When they appear, the weeding process begins, which can continue uninterruptedly. We start from one corner of the garden or vegetable garden and end up in the opposite, putting enormous effort into this laborious business. But while we reach the end of the site, we have to start all over again. Weeds are very resistant plants, and getting rid of them is not so easy. There are almost no free time for summer residents in the season. In order to free it for yourself to rest, it is worth considering the use of mulching materials. They support the water balance in the soil and restrain the growth of weeds. In practice this means that you will have to spend much less time for weeding and watering. And you can use the released watches for rest, and not for the heavily exhausting work.
How to apply mulch?
If you have never done mulchingsoil, then early spring is the most suitable time for this. Decide for yourself where you will use this material: whether it will be only beds and flower beds or you will fill it and paths. Depending on this, you will have to calculate the required amount of mulch. It can be of different sizes: small, medium and large. All three types are suitable for any work, but experts advise using a large for the design of sites and tracks. For mulching beds and flower beds, it is better to take a material of small or medium size from a pine bark. For decorative works, you can use the bark of larch, as the mulch of the noble color of mahogany looks very attractive. Mulch materials from pine and larch have absolutely the same properties. They differ only in their service life: pine till the state of humus decomposes in three to four years, and larch in four to five years. This humus further serves as an excellent fertilizing for plants. Naturally, a large mulch is more durable than a small mulch. The average will last you at least three or four years, and a small one - only two or three. After the decomposition of the mulch, you will only need to fill a new layer over the old one. Nutrients from the formed humus will gradually enrich the soil, and your plants will take from there everything they need. Mulching is carried out in the spring, before weeds come out. The first layer is made of a thickness of at least 5-7 centimeters. If you need to make fertilizer, you need to do this before mulching. Experience shows that the material from the bark does not completely eliminate the weeds, but they will be few, they will be frail and will not be able to grow rapidly. Weeding them will not be difficult. In addition, mulch from the bark has the property of absorbing moisture, for example, during irrigation or rain. After which she will gradually give it to your plants in dry weather. So you protect your planting both from excess moisture, and from its lack. Observations show that the use of mulch reduces the need for watering several times: where it was required to water daily, it will suffice to water once a week. This can be done directly on top of the material. Work on mulching can be carried out in late autumn. They begin when all the weeds dry up. For the winter, the layer of mulch is increased to reduce the risk of plant frost. In the spring, when the threat of frost passes and warm weather sets in, the layer of mulch can be reduced. If last year's material, which turned into humus, is not enough, you can pour a new layer up to three centimeters thick. Powder can be done at any time of the year - in summer, in spring or in autumn. We have tried to disclose to you all the advantages of using mulching on the backyard. It is a modern technological way of caring for the land, it allows you to significantly reduce the labor costs for its processing and use your strength and time more efficiently. In addition, the use of mulch for decorative purposes allows you to apply it in landscape design, which will help make your site beautiful and well-groomed.
