So it has already become customary that the medical term"Depression" in recent years, people have become inclined to denote any manifestation of a bad mood, ranging from mild sadness and ending with a marked despair. And it's okay if you use this word only when talking with your friends. Much worse, if you begin to "wind" yourself or even resort to medication in cases where it is not required at all. Our article will dispel the most popular myths that surround such a thing as "endogenous depression", describe its symptoms, and also tell you what you can and should do with it.
Features of endogenous depression
In a general sense, depression is a disorderemotional sphere of a person, which has pronounced manifestations. A more detailed list of symptoms will be given below, but for now we will only indicate the most basic: mental and motor retardation, prolonged and sustained deterioration in mood, and also the inability to experience joy even on the most significant occasion. As you can see, this is a much more serious problem than prolonged sadness. Depression is divided into several species based on the causes of its causes. If the cause is outside the person, then the depression is called "reactive". This is due to the fact that such a condition arises as a reaction to some kind of psychotraumatic event: grief, loss of a loved one, illness, parting, serious conflict or something more serious. As a rule, in this case it is clear where the legs grow from depression, and there are no questions about how to treat it. But there is a second variant of the development of events - when the cause of depression lies inside the person. It is usually called the term "endogenous depression". Of course, stress can aggravate or provoke the onset of the disease, but in the future, as a rule, there is no close relationship between it and a decrease in mood. That is why it is commonly believed that the cause of this condition lies in the chemical imbalance in the body, but everything in order. The most important scientific hypothesis regarding the origin of depression is that the whole deficit of biogenic amines is dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin. The body produces an insufficient number of them, and it is from this that a person begins to experience such oppressive experiences. Scientists believe that there is an increased risk of experiencing endogenous depression in those whose relatives suffer from it or other mental or psychoemotional disorders. That's why you should be especially cautious if you fall into this category of population.
Symptoms of endogenous depression
Unfortunately, very many people still do notcan recognize the onset of endogenous depression. They for years can write off everything for a bad mood, fatigue, laziness, ecology or psychological problems. Indeed, it is often difficult for a nonspecialist to separate a true clinical depression from the case when a person has driven himself into a corner, but for a therapist this is an absolutely understandable task. So, what symptoms should make you alert and think about more drastic measures?
- Unreasonable persistent attacks of bad mood,which can grow or weaken depending on the time of day or year. For example, in the spring and autumn often there are exacerbations. In the morning, a depressive condition usually intensifies, and in the evening many sufferers experience slight relief;
- The slowed pace of movements and activity of the psyche: a man slowly thinks, perceives, speaks and moves, reduced ability to attention and concentration;
- Chronic feeling of fatigue accompanying the sufferer everywhere;
- For a person is characterized by a sense of self-guilt, sinfulness, self-abasement, pessimism and a gloomy outlook for the future;
- Problems with sleep, and for depression are characterized by early waking, after which a person can not fall asleep at all;
- Disorders of appetite: it either decreases, or in some especially severe cases disappears altogether;
- The pain of various descriptions and localizations, for example,feeling of anguish, experienced as a "stone in the chest," or stupid "twisting" intrusive sensations in the joints, bones and muscles in the absence of any organic disturbances;
- Decreased self-esteem and self-doubt;
This is how the classical signs of the givendisease. A person can lie on the couch all day and not get up from it. But not because he is lazy, but because he does not have the strength and even just an interest in the world around him. His brain does not produce a single drop of pleasure, and his life consists of only suffering. In general, people suffering from endogenous depression are prone to suicide, but often do not dare at it, as apathy stops them. That is why psychologists and psychotherapists are recommended to work very carefully with such conditions, because the risk is great that as soon as the improvement comes, and the person will feel the strength, he will decide on suicide. You can add a few more strokes to the resulting picture. Speaking about the general decline in the energy level, people suffering from depression often sit for hours in a monotonous "twisted" posture, completely immersed in their dreary experiences. With them, practically impossible everyday everyday conversation, which is constantly stalled because of the difficulties with the selection of words, protracted pauses, misunderstanding and the general "disconnection" of a person from life. His fixity on his illness simply gets out of the way, because he is not able to talk about anything other than depression and painful heaviness in his soul. And there comes a vicious circle, when a person, due to his illness, more and more moves away from contact with the outside world, which further exacerbates his condition - this is the insidiousness of the persistent and prolonged impact of endogenous depression.
Treatment and psychotherapy of endogenous depression
Endogenous depression is always treated withantidepressants is a fact. Judge for yourself that if there is any deficit in the body, then it must be replenished, especially when it comes to such important substances for life as serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. But it is worth remembering that self-treatment in case of depression (as, indeed, in the case of other diseases) is unacceptable - all medications you should appoint only a doctor-psychotherapist or psychiatrist. Do not be afraid to become dependent on drugs, because the lack of proper treatment in this case is much more dangerous. In general, the first thing with which to begin treatment is a visit to the therapist. Once you have compared all the signs of the current condition and are worried, it is better to immediately register with him at the reception. It is the doctor who will be able to choose the drugs that suit you, and will also be involved in psychotherapy. Their combination at the moment is the most effective weapon against depression. This can be resisted for a long time, but by doing this you only postpone the decision that actually works. Not the fact that a sense of happiness will settle in your soul, but adequately selected psychotherapy and medications will help you to control your condition, and also give some sense of support and stability, so necessary for any person. Many people, when they hear about depression, give one simple advice: "Do sports and everything will go away." This method, unfortunately, is suitable only for those who still have strength, that is, their condition has not reached an extreme degree of severity. In all the rest it is very effective, because its action is based on the same notorious chemistry: you run thirty minutes and get a good portion of serotonin. In more severe cases, long-distance running can help, and quite intense. Afterwards, it feels inside that you feel like a person again. However, be sure to consult about possible contraindications with your doctor. Relaxation as a method of fighting depression is not very effective - everything is already relaxed to the maximum. However, it can give strength and resources, especially if it is combined with proper breathing and visualization. One of its radical options is holotropic breathing. It helps you enter a state of altered consciousness, which in some cases positively affects dynamics. But it is worth remembering that holotropic breathing exercises are possible only under the guidance of an experienced certified trainer (they are not available in all cities) and only in the absence of possible indications. It is worth noting that sometimes the consequences are very negative when a person meets in his subconscious with something very unpleasant. But the most important thing that miracles can do is people. Yes, do not be surprised, but having a close person who will always understand and support is worth a lot. It is a pity, but the belief is still widespread that depression is a lack of will, not a disease. And it is for this reason that many people who suffer from this syndrome turn away from their relatives and friends. And, maybe, they just get tired, because being with a depressed person is very, very difficult: you need to have a steady psyche, not get involved in sad experiences, be able to support and always be around. Fortunately, such people do not need much - at least one of them is enough, because you simply turn away from the majority and run away. Often healing is a simple conversation or even silence - they help to feel that you are not alone. The last, but not in the degree of importance, which must necessarily be mentioned is hope. This is what ignites the fire in the hearts of people even in those moments when it seems that everything inside has died. This is what made the most amazing and wonderful events on Earth happen. This is, without which life loses all meaning. It is hope that dies last. Know that even if it seems now that the longing has engulfed you completely, life is over, but there is no way out, then the bright moment when depression will subside and you will feel refreshed will come.
