Beautifully servedBeautifully servedrestaurants have recently been gaining very great popularity: the taste of the dish, of course, is of paramount importance, but the way it looks on the plate is equally important. Food-design is already called a fashionable, albeit very young, form of contemporary art, which combines the process of cooking, food packaging design, interior design, marketing, textile and tableware design. Today there are very few specialists in this area. These are mainly people who came from related areas: graphic designers, industrial design specialists, photo artists, packaging designers. And, of course, since we are talking about professional food presentation, it is a strict requirement to have an education as a cook or pastry chef. Nevertheless, food design has all the qualities to become both an art form and a full-fledged professional field. So far, it is possible to study the specialty Food-design only in Italy. Many academies have already recognized this direction, but officially only Istituto Europeo di Design introduced an academic course in food design in 2008. Representatives of the Yekaterinburg design community will be the first in Russia to get acquainted with the masterpieces of Italian food-design on October 30 as part of the creative action “DesignEdy. Tasteful design ”. The main event of the event is a master class by the famous Italian designer Paolo Barichella, one of the founders of edible design. In his master class, he will tell about the origins and current state of food design, and will create several culinary still lifes in front of the visitors.
