Grapefruit and womenGrapefruit harmGrapefruit harm by a group of American scientists fromThe universities of Southern California and Hawaii, having surveyed more than 50 thousand women, concluded that those who ate at least a quarter of a day had a 33% higher risk of breast cancer than those who did not include grapefruit in their diet. It is worth noting that the experiment did not take into account such risk factors as solar radiation, absence or presence of childbirth or abortion, and many others. But, despite these caveats, some caution should be exercised. Grapefruit and Medicines Grapefruit has been shown to be incompatible with many medicines. For example, women taking birth control pills and drinking grapefruit juice in the morning may one day find that they are a little pregnant, and those taking antidepressants - that they are not a little depressive. What is the result? Should we give up grapefruit? Of course not. But some caution will not hurt - do not get carried away with eating "heavenly citrus" and juice from them, especially if you are taking medications. And eating grapefruit on an empty stomach negatively affects the teeth, gums, mucous membrane of the esophagus and stomach due to too high acidity. Nutritionists advise to limit one fruit per week. In moderation, grapefruit is great for digestion. Organic acids, pectins, fiber, lignin of rigid septa, plant proteases - all this accelerates the movement of food, promotes intestinal cleansing, activates liver activity and indirectly improves fat metabolism. But without physical activity and a decrease in total calorie intake, it is unlikely that it will be possible to lose weight.
